The GENA project is a 3-year MSP RETA that is designed to explore the effects of MSP participation on STEM faculty and provide a model to the MSP community that can be adapted so that MSP participation can be seen as a valuable contribution to a faculty member's work at their institution. Our model stems from the hypothesis that if a disciplinary society (in this case the American Society of Human Genetics and the Genetics Society of America) supports this type of work, them this provides an additional level of cashe and support for their members to become involved and receive support from their colleagues in the society and at their home institution.
