This intervention is designed to strengthen students' understanding of how gene linkage can be used to map genes of interest. It is an extension of the curriculum currently used in an honors level biology
course taught to sophomores at St. Paul Academy and Summit School. The activity uses a human example to model how the tendency to assort with a known marker can be used to determine the location of a gene of interest. It will also enhance students' understanding of the role of a medical geneticist.
